Character Counts

“One of the new programs we have started at St. Matthew is Character Counts,” writes Vickie Wannemuehler, principal of the Mount Vernon school.

“The students have been learning about the six pillars of character: caring, fairness, respect, responsibility, trustworthiness and citizenship. Each week, we recognize students for modeling paws-itive character and making good choices. These students receive a paw print on the character bulleting board.

“Each grading period, we are recognizing and celebrating the good character of students from each class. Congratulations to the following students who received the award for the first grading period: Kyra Rainey, Emily Osborne, Katherine Girten, Dru Henderson, Grace Maxwell, Hank Denning and Madison O’Daniel.”
