Diocesan Strategic Plan

Bishop Charles C. Thompson has completed listening sessions across the Diocese of Evansville as part of the second phase of the Diocesan Strategic Plan. Changes as a result of the second phase will be announced this fall in The Message. Details also will be available at www.TheMessageOnline.org.

Beginning in January and running through June, Bishop Thompson held 15 listening sessions with members of 32 parishes across the diocese. Any changes announced later this year will complement those announced in September 2013, which resulted in the creation of eight new parishes through mergers, effective July 1.

Two additional mergers were announced last September, but they have not yet taken effect. Three Spencer County parishes – St. Joseph, Dale; Mary Help of Christians, Mariah Hill; and St. Nicholas, Santa Claus – will merge effective July 1, 2015. And two Evansville parishes – Holy Rosary and Nativity – will link effective Jan. 1, 2015, and merge effective July 1, 2016.
