Students during the first four years of Mater Dei, which opened in the fall of 1949, stand and receive a hearty ovation from more than 350 in attendance.

More than 350 alumni, families and friends packed Mater Dei High School’s gymnasium on Oct. 4 for the school’s 65th Anniversary BASH – Building A Scholastic Heritage. During the event, school President Timothy A. Dickel announced that Mater Dei has exceeded its $4.6 million goal for the Full of Grace: Excellence for Tomorrow Capital Campaign – three months early!

The campaign is funding areas related to academics, spirituality, facilities, extracurricular activities/athletics and tuition assistance. Several major projects are complete – including the expanded and renovated media center, prayer garden, main gym restrooms, energy-efficienct enhancements and resource facility. Several other projects are in progress or planned for the future, including enhancement of the entrance, new and improved athletic fields, tennis courts and renovation of an auxiliary gym.

“Through the tremendous support of many people, we are pleased to announce that our goal has been met three months early,” Dickel said. “We are extremely grateful for the many alumni, friends, parents and businesses that have generously contributed their time, talent and treasure.” said Dr. Timothy A. Dickel, President of Mater Dei High School.

“The generous support of our community is an outward sign of the value placed on a Catholic education provided at Mater Dei High School,” Principal Darin Knight said. “I am excited to see our students benefit from these improvements on a daily basis.”

Dickel also announced that Mater Dei enrollment has increased for the second consecutive year, and that the school expects another increase for the 2015-16 school year.
