A face lift

Father Kenneth Walker writes in the bulletin for St. John Parish in Loogootee, “Please stop by and look at all the work that has been accomplished by a number of our parishioners to give a face lift to the upper level of the Center.

“This was done under the direction of Tom McAtee and Cam Ackerman. The following parishioners were involved in the renovation process: Mike and Kay Summers, John and Judy Walker, Tom and Jean Walker, Ed and Becky Summers, Bill and Barb Boyd, Jim Bradley, Mary Bowling, Rich and Judy Kluesner, Stephanie McAtee, and Skip Ackerman.

“This is especially appreciated  as we begin a new year for the religious education program. Paula Ringwald has worked very hard in decorating the classrooms, giving each one a spiritual and biblical touch.”

An enriching experience

Benedictine Sister Louise Laroche writes in the newsletter at Holy Family Parish in Jasper, “Dear Parishioners and Parents,

“I have arrived in Chicago August 20 to begin my studies at the Institute of Religious Formation at the Catholic Theological Union. I am being educated to mentor and accompany women who feel the call to religious life as a Sister of St. Benedict. We are 19 participants. They come from Nigeria, Brazil, Vietnam, China, Congo, Indonesia, Ireland, Grenada and seven of us are from the United States. This will definitely be a very enriching experience for us all.

“We will also be in classes at times with the participants from the Hesburgh Sabbatical Program. There are 18 in that program, again from all over the world.  As you can surmise it will be an enriching experience.

“ I thank God for all of you whom I have come to know and love these past 25 years. Let us keep one another in prayer.”

Her address is Catholic Theological Union c/o IRF; 5401 Cornell Avenue; Chicago, IL 60615-5698.
