LCM award

Caroline Phillips is the 2014 recipient of the Little Company of Mary award given by Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

The award is given annually to an employee nominated by his or her coworkers and chosen from a group of finalists by the hospital’s mission committee. Nominees for the award demonstrate the hospital’s mission and core values through their daily work.

She has worked in the pharmacy field for more than 50 years, including working at the hospital for the last 30 years. She is currently the chief Pyxis tech in the pharmacy department.

Father Tony Ernst, director of newly ordained priests and pastor at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Haubstadt, Holy Cross Parish, Fort Branch, and St. Bernard Parish, Snake Run, celebrates his birthday Jan. 15.

Deacon Robert Hayden was ordained Jan. 19, 1991.

Anniversaries at Holy Family

Congratulations to couples at Holy Family Parish in Jasper who are celebrating January wedding anniversaries: Michael and Eileen Helfter, 47 years; Thomas and Patricia Sternberg, 45 years.

Student teacher

Good Shepherd will welcome a student teacher during the second semester. Adam Steel is a student at the University of Southern Indiana. 

Second place

Members of the speech team at St. Wendel School in St. Wendel have received second place in Division III in the diocesan speech tournament.

Members include Savana Schneider, Alaina Spahn, Jenna Fehrenbacher, Jenna Zirkelbach, Emma Lamble, Evan Herr, Caleb Dyson, Brennon Sweeney, Blaise Kelley, Raice Straub, Tanner Schickel, Noah Blankenberger, Michael Goedde and Blake Koch.
