2015 SUMMER SOCIALS

 

 

The Message invited parishes in the Diocese of Evansville to submit information about summer socials in 2015. Here are their responses:

 

MAY

 

May 14,15 and 16, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Holy Rosary, Evansville, grounds open Thurs. 5-9 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 5-10 p.m.; serving family style pork chop or fried chicken dinners with all you can eat sides each night 5-7:30 p.m., again this year there will be handicap dining in the parish hall and drive thru carry out available; rides, games for all ages, huge silent/chance auction, quilt raffle, food booths featuring festival food; Car/Cash Raffle to win your choice of a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS, Colorado Long Box WT Truck, Trax LT SUV or $20,000 plus four other cash prizes, tickets $25 each or seven for $100 before May 10, six for a $100 after that.

 

JUNE

 

June 5 and 6, Friday and Saturday, Holy Redeemer, Evansville, Summer Fest; Friday, smoked pork chop dinners, Saturday, fried chicken dinners, 4:30-8 p.m.; raffle & theme baskets; beer garden both nights starting at 6:00pm; live music Friday AND Saturday; games for 21 and older.

June 6 and 7, Saturday and Sunday, St. Boniface Parish, 418 N. June 7, Sunday, St. Joseph, Jasper, grounds open 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; serving fried chicken or roast beef, corn or green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, slaw, bread, dessert, beverage beginning 10:30 a.m., drive thru and carry out starting at 10 a.m., $9/adult, $6/children 5 and under; outside food booths, mock turtle soup, hamburgers/cheeseburgers, homemade potato chips, lemon shake ups, ice cream floats; Grand Raffle with $7,500 in cash prizes, quilts, FREE inflatables for kids, country store, theme basket raffle, bingo, adult and kid games, music entertainment on the plaza and Activity Center; 5K run/walk, June 6.

June 7, Sunday, Sacred Heart, Vincennes, grounds open 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Highland Woods Park; serving chicken dinners 11 a.m-2 p.m. $9/adults, $4/children; fricassee sold by gallon (bring own containers) or bowl, hamburgers, pulled pork, country store, cash raffle, theme baskets, money balloon, quilt raffle, children's games, inflatables.

June 12 and 13, Friday and Saturday, Annunciation Parish, Evansville, grounds open on the Christ the King campus 5-10 p.m. both days; Fri. serving fried fish or fried chicken dinners, Sat. serving fried chicken and chicken and dumplings, dinners served 5-7 p.m. in air-conditioned school cafeteria, $10.00/adults, $5/children; Luck of the Draw, basket raffle, cash and quilt raffle, inflatables in the gym, outside food booths, rides, games, musical entertainment.

June 14, Sunday, St. Rupert, Red Brush, annual dinner 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; serving fried chicken or grilled pork chop, St. Rupert dumplings, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, slaw, desserts, drink; $9/adult plate, $4/child plate; carry out available.

June 18, 19 and 20, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, St. John Newburgh Summerfest, grounds open Thursday and Friday, 5-10 p.m., Saturday, 5-11 p.m.; serving smoked pork chop dinners Thur., fried chicken and dumplings dinners Fri. and Sat., served with green beans, corn, potatoes and gravy, bread, cake, beverage, 4:30-7:30 p.m. nightly in air-conditioned parish center; food booths, snack and ice cream booths, Sweets and Treasures; specialty basket booth, cash raffle with $2,500 grand prize and Holland gas grill, quilt raffle; entertainment includes family entertainment Thursday night and live music Friday and Saturday nights 7-11 p.m.; plus beer garden Friday and Saturday 5:30-11 p.m.

June 28, Sunday, Corpus Christi, Evansville, grounds are open from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; family style fried chicken dinner and drive-thru carryout from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., $9/ adults, $5/children, air conditioned bingo, big raffle and quilt raffle, inflatables and games for children, theme basket raffle, book sale, paddle wheel; Corpus Christi Chuck Wagon serving sausage burgers all day.

June 28, Sunday, St. John the Baptist, Vincennes, summer picnic at Highland Woods, serving fricassee, chicken dinners, hamburgers, $9/adults, $5/children under 12, serving begins 11 a.m., carry out available; Mega Raffle, theme baskets, Country Store, quilt raffle, games for the kids.

 

JULY

July 10 and 11, Friday and Saturday, Nativity Parish Evansville, Friday serving fried chicken or smoked pork chops, dumplings, mashed potatoes and gravy, salads, vegetables, dessert, beverage; Saturday serving fried chicken or smoked pork chops, dressing, au gratin potatoes, vegetables, salads, dessert, beverage in air conditioned cafeteria; $9/adult, children under 8 are free with adult dinner purchase; Hispanic food booth serving Tortas, Mexican corn on the cob, nachos; bingo, theme baskets, variety auction, cash and quilt raffles, fudge.

July 12, Sunday, St. Matthew, Mount Vernon, grounds open 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; serving fried chicken or pork chop with corn, green beans, roll, mashed potatoes and gravy, dumplings, dessert, drink, $9/adult, $7/children 12 and under, carry out available; paddle wheel, children’s activities and games, live entertainment, food booths, inflatables; $10,000 Big Money Raffle drawing will be held at the end of the evening.

July 12, Sunday, St. Bernard, Rockport, grounds open 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.; outside food tent with snack booths; menu includes fried chicken, roast beef, dumplings, hamburgers, tenderloins, mock turtle soup, takeout available; children’s play zone, quilt raffles, grocery giveaway, money wheel, cake stand, bingo, dime pitch, Coke toss, silent auction.

July 19, Sunday, St. John Chrysostom, New Boston, roast beef and fried chicken dinners beginning at 10 a.m. in air conditioned Fr. Heck Hall; bingo begins at 11 a.m.; silent auction, Chinese auction, New Boston famous soup, country store, hamburgers, big raffle drawing at 4 p.m.; live entertainment in the afternoon.

July 19, Sunday, St. Thomas, Vincennes, serving chicken dinners, fricassee and hamburgers, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., carry out available; theme baskets, children’s games, Grand Raffle.

July 26, Sunday, St. Joseph, Vanderburgh County, serving fried chicken country style, with all the trimmings, beginning 10:30 a.m., carry out available; handmade quilts, giant basket raffle, bingo, wheels, games, food, grand raffle, crafts, special games and fun for children.

 

AUGUST

August 2 Sunday, St. James, Haubstadt, Mass times 7 and 9 a.m.; serving chicken or roast beef buffet dinners starting at 10:30 a.m., air-conditioned Madden Hall, handicapped accessible, carry out available; $1,500 money prizes given away, handmade quilts plus Quilt of the Month tickets for sale; burgoo (bring your own containers), ice cream, shakes, lunch stand, paddle wheel, adult and children’s auction, Country Store, silent auction, bingo, theme baskets, Pedal Pull, kids’ games;  $25 hourly attendance prizes starting at noon.

August 8 and 9, Saturday and Sunday, St. Philip, Posey County, serving pork chop dinner Saturday, 5-7:30 p.m., fried chicken dinner Sunday, 10:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. in air-conditioned cafeteria, drive-thru available for both meals; sandwiches, ice cream, pizza, air conditioned bingo, paddle wheel, pull tabs, big raffle, inflatables, special raffles, theme baskets, quilts, children’s games and more.

August 9, Sunday, Mary, Help of Christians, Mariah Hill, beginning 10 a.m.serving fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, dumplings, green beans, corn, slaw, sliced tomatoes, desserts, and beverage, carry out available; also turtle soup in bulk or by bowl, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, beverages, ice cream; bouncy house, craft stand with Chinese auction, country store, quilt stand, quilt and grand raffles, air-cooled bingo, cards and games of chance, kids games; shuttle service from parking areas to picnic grounds; plenty of shade on picnic grounds.
