Bishop Sets Diocesan Pastoral Plan Listening Session For Youth And Young Adults

By The Message Staff

Bishop Charles C. Thompson has scheduled a listening session concerning a Diocesan Pastoral Plan specifically for youth and young adults from across the Diocese of Evansville.

The session is set for 6 p.m. CDT to 8 p.m. CDT on April 18 at the Mitchell Auditorium in the Health Professions Building at the University of Southern Indiana.

During the session, Bishop Thompson will cover the work completed to date in developing an initial draft of a Diocesan Pastoral Plan. He will share elements of the plan, answer questions and accept input regarding the plan and its ongoing development.

The plan focuses on five pastoral goals for the Diocese of Evansville:

• Build a culture that promotes a personal encounter with Jesus Christ

• Build upon Catholic identity and mission, within and beyond the Catholic community

• Build up a sustainable system of outreach and service that honors human dignity, promotes engagement, heals wounds and transforms hearts

• Build up and maintaining vibrant and evangelizing parishes that form intentional disciples

• Build up strong and sustainable vocations

Objectives to support these goals also will be discussed in the sessions.

The plan will be used at the diocesan and parish levels to guide action steps for the next 3-5 years. The session is open to Catholic youth and young adults from any of our 12 counties.
