St. Matthew Dinner And Auction Is March 11

By

St. Matthew Parish in Mount Vernon will hold its 17th annual dinner and auction to benefit St. Matthew School on March 11 at the Posey County 4H Center, 111 Harmony Township Rd, New Harmony, IN 47631. The annual event is themed, and this year’s theme calls for the dinner and auction to be a “Hillbilly Kinfolk’s Affair.”

With that in mind, dress for the evening will be “Country Casual.”

This event has become one of the most successful in the Diocese of Evansville, with more than $1 million raised to benefit St. Matthew School. Attendees have packed the 4H Center in previous years, and 2017 should be no different.

Tickets are $30 for the main floor, being called the “yard” this year, and $35 for seating in the balcony, known this year as the “piddly porch.”

Doors will open at 5 p.m. CT, and silent auctions will begin immediately. Snacks and drinks will be available until 6 p.m., when dinner will be served; the menu this year features hog. A live auction will begin after dinner.

Organizers promise a “knee-slappin’ good time.”
