Timing is everything – isn’t it?

While that’s such a cliché and often overused saying, I’ve come to realize recently just how true it is.

It seems when you believe you’re ready for a change -- whether it be your job, where you live or healthier eating habits -- the outcome you’re seeking may not happen as quickly as you’d like or think it should. Inevitably, friends and family will try to comfort you with something like: ‘Well it’ll happen when you least expect it,’ or ‘It’s just not the right time.’

In the moment it can often be hard to believe.

Well, the truth is, timing is everything -- his timing. While you may believe it’s the right time for something to happen, it may not align with his plans.

So, you must patiently wait. God will not forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6); trust me, I know from experience.

Let me rewind a bit.

A few months ago I felt kind of lost. I wasn’t sure why, but it seemed like I needed a change.

The problem?

I’m not usually good at change. Some people instantly embrace it without a second thought. But me? I think change can be scary.

That’s because I was failing to put all my trust in God. Once I did that, everything shifted.

Because even though the change may be uncomfortable at first, when you put your trust in God it can be the best thing for you.

But I still wasn’t sure what change I needed.

Turns out, it was the diocese. While I enjoyed my previous job and worked with amazing people, I needed something different.

So God stepped in at just the right time.

In my first almost-eight weeks since joining the diocese everyone has been nothing but welcoming and supportive. I feel blessed to have the privilege to share your stories across the diocese, and I look forward to meeting all of you.

Please pray for me as I continue to strive to do my best for all of you.

And remember, next time you feel you need a change, take a leap of faith and trust in God, because it may be exactly what you need.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
