Why Be Confirmed?

If you are an adult Catholic (aged 18 or older) who has been baptized, has received First Communion and are practicing your faith but have not celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, you are invited to participate in a preparation program.

Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace:

  • it roots us more deeply in the divine filiation [becoming adopted sons and daughters of God] which makes us cry, “Abba! Father!”
  • it unites us more firmly to Christ;
  • it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us;
  • it renders our bond with the Church more perfect;
  • it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be3 ashamed of the Cross.  Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1303

In an effort to support parishes in preparing adults for Confirmation, the Office of Catechesis, and the Office of Worship are partnering to offer a Confirmation Preparation Program at the Catholic Center.

Sessions will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24; and March 3, 10, 17.

Dr. Jack Tuinier will lead this seven-session program.  There is no cost.  All materials will be supplied.  All are welcome.
