Let's Focus On The Positive … Especially Now

Brothers and sisters in Christ, I wish you all well as we enter into this season of thanksgiving and celebration of God coming to dwell among us.  We all too often focus on what is wrong with our world, and yet we are reminded in each season of what is very right with the world.  With every negative event, there most certainly is at least one positive event to counter.  We simply have to look for them.

We are faced with hope in knowing that God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son to be with us and guide us to the Father.  This alone should cause all of our human frailties and despair to wash away.  It is truly in God and God alone that we place our lives and if this is done then what earthly happening can shake us from this reality.

Admittedly, there are times when we are brought to our knees with the many challenges we face in this life; and yet it is when we are on our knees that we can fold our hands in quiet prayer and call out to God to be with us.

God does not wish us to be messengers of gloom.  Rather, even in our struggles we provide beacons of hope for a world desperately in need of direction and bearing.  Pope John Paul II was arguably one of the greatest Christian figures of our time and it was not only in his ministry to the world but in showing how to silently suffer in the presence of God’s love that made such a dramatic impact on Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

My point is simply this:  If we seek out a deeper relationship with God then we will be rewarded with a happiness that we previously thought unattainable by our human standards.  This path we walk is not always the easiest route to take; but if we persevere, we will find that which we were looking for all along.
